Katy Kozhimannil, Director of the University of Minnesota Rural Health Research Center, has joined the Women’s Health Issues Editorial Board. Women’s Health Issues is the official journal of the Jacobs Institute of Women’s Health, which is based in the Department of Health Policy and Management at Milken Institute School of Public Health (Milken Institute SPH) at the George Washington University.

Kozhimannil has an extensive history of publishing in Women’s Health Issues, and her study “Access to Workplace Accommodations to Support Breastfeeding after Passage of the Affordable Care Act” received the Honorable Mention for the journal’s 2016 Charles E. Gibbs Prize. Her influential body of research addresses policies and healthcare practices that affect women’s health and health equity, and includes studies on rural obstetric care and the effects of the opioid epidemic on mothers and babies.

“We are delighted to have Katy Kozhimannil join the editorial board of Women’s Health Issues,” said Women’s Health Issues Editor-in-Chief Amita Vyas. “Her commitment to advancing health equity, expertise in rural health issues, and strong record of mentoring early-career scholars will be assets to the journal as we confront the many challenges facing women’s health today.”
